DMY provided geotechnical services for this project, which consisted of a one-level structural steel building constructed over the footings of an existing one-level metal building that was demolished.

DMY performed a hand auger boring and three (3) Wildcat Penetrometer tests in exposed areas adjacent to existing column footings. Based on extremely soft, unstable soils encountered at bearing elevation at grid location E-8, we recommended additional testing at all of the column footings. The footings had to be exposed at sixteen (16) additional locations by others. DMY performed one (1) Wildcat Cone Penetrometer test proximal to each column footing to evaluate the soil density at each location. The soils were tested to depths of 4 to 6 feet below slab elevation. The test data from the initial investigation and this additional investigation were combined into a geotechnical report that provided recommendations regarding foundation bearing capacity and other geotechnical design considerations.
